The “Universal Hall and City Art Gallery” building in Prishtina will be a multifunctional facility designed to meet the diverse needs of our city. Due to its dimensions and significance, the building is conceived as a landmark element that will dominate the surrounding landscape. Based on these principles, the design envisions a structure that embodies an expressive architectural language on the exterior, complemented by an interior treated in a highly engaging and dynamic manner.
The conceptual scheme focuses on the form of the building: volumes are stacked one over another, symbolically representing the creation and evolution of the city of Prishtina. Each layer stands for a distinct historical period, while the horizontal shifts between the volumes express how, despite the deviations and transformations throughout history, these layers remain deeply interconnected — together shaping both us and the identity of our city.
